Parental burden lightened as over 40,000 students benefit from programme

SHAH ALAM, Dec 13 — The Warisan Anak Selangor Fund (Tawas) school admission assistance programme has aided 44,484 members thus far.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the school assistance includes schoolbags, stationary, food containers, water bottles, face masks, and hand sanitisers.

"May this assistance provide benefit to the children, and at the same time lighten the burden of parents for the upcoming school session next year," he said on Facebook.

Tawas, which is managed by Warisan Anak Selangor Foundation was officially launched during the state-level Merdeka celebrations on August 30, 2008.

The programme is open to all Selangor-born children who fulfill the conditions. Applications must be made before the child turns three.

Tawas members will receive a payment of RM1,500 once they reach the age of 18.
