SHAH ALAM, Nov 6 — Illegal dumping cases in the state went down to 874 cases as of September, a decrease by half compared to the same period last year.

As many as 1,983 cases were recorded last year while 1,532 cases were reported in 2018.

State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said cases that were slapped with penalty by local authorities have also dropped.

“As many as 364 cases have been penalised this year by the Klang Municipal Council compared to 1,592 cases last year, while those by the Kajang Municipal Council have reduced to 71 cases compared to 151 cases in 2019.

“Meanwhile, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB) did not record any cases,” said Ng at the State Legislative Assembly here today.

He said, the land and district office as well as local authorities officers have the discretion to take actions against landowners that are involved with illegal dumping activities via Notice 7A for recovery.

Ng explained that Notice 7B will then be presented to obtain the verification towards the recovery.

“If the landowner is still non-compliant, the land administration will perform the confiscation of the land according to Notice 8A, Section 30 of the 1965 National Land Code,” he said.
