PORT KLANG, Sept 12 — The services and manufacturing sectors were the highest contributors to investment value in Selangor for the first half of this year, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
He said the two sectors have drawn RM70 billion as of June this year.
The majority of the value of the investments approved by the state government was contributed by the services and manufacturing sectors.
“We are confident that we can achieve the RM80 billion target within the next few months,” he said after officiating the factory and central workshop of the logistics vehicle company Steelbro in Telok Gong here today.
On Tuesday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said he is confident Selangor’s investment value this year would surpass RM100 billion based on encouraging momentum and investment trends.
Ng said the performance is the result of close cooperation between the state government, Invest Selangor Bhd, and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in drawing investments to Selangor.
“This collaboration is important to strengthen the momentum of investment, especially high-quality investments, while ensuring approved projects can be realised.
“We are witnessing Selangor continuing to record impressive investment figures, with RM101 billion in approved investments in 2024 and RM70 billion for the first half of this year,” he added.
Commenting on the 2027 Selangor Budget, he said Amirudin recently chaired a dialogue with university professors and stakeholders.
“The meeting was to discuss and gather views or requests from all parties covering different sectors. We want to make the budget, which will be announced in mid-November, more appropriate and focused on the development of this state,” he said.
“Our ambition is clear, which is to move to a higher level up the value chain in manufacturing and engineering.
“In this regard, I encourage Steelbro, which is also a New Zealand company, to continue investing in our engineers and technicians as well as local suppliers and institutions,” Ng added.
