SHAH ALAM, Nov 5 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI has distributed RM30,740 worth of essential supplies to more than 300 flood victims at three affected locations.
Its chief executive officer Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the assistance was provided to victims at two temporary relief centres (PPS) and residents of Kampung Melayu Subang to ease their burden.
The contributions included daily necessities and bedding to support victims' comfort and well-being throughout the disaster.
“Among the items provided were sleeping mats, blankets, mineral water, biscuits, instant noodles, and electric kettles to meet the victims’ daily needs,” he told Media Selangor.
Azri added that RM10,000 each had been allocated to flood victims at the PPS in SK Merbau Sempak and Dewan Seri Pagi Paya Jaras in Sungai Buloh.
“Meanwhile, RM10,740 was channelled through the Kota Damansara state constituency service centre to assist residents of Kampung Melayu Subang who were also affected by the floods.
“Yayasan MBI hopes the contributions will provide some relief to the victims, particularly those who have been forced to leave their homes and seek shelter at PPS,” he said.
Several areas in Selangor have been affected by floods following heavy rain over the past few days, including parts of Shah Alam and Subang. Kampung Melayu Subang was among the worst-affected areas.
Flash floods hit the village following heavy rain, with rainfall reaching 116.5mm in approximately one hour, causing the river to overflow into residential areas.
The incident affected approximately 92 houses across four areas: Lorong Merbau (30), Jalan Cengal (seven), Jalan Resak (five), and Jalan Jati (50). Water levels in residential areas reportedly reached up to one metre.
