KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — Regulations requiring all express bus ticket sales to be coordinated through licensed bus terminals and registered operators' online sales platforms will be implemented in phases, following the original enforcement date of November 1.
The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) said that this phased implementation approach, or soft landing, aims to provide a reasonable transition period for licensed bus terminal management and express bus operators to make technical preparations.
This includes ticket system adjustments, digital platform integration, and operational process alignment to ensure the smooth implementation of this policy without compromising service continuity for users.
"This approach aims to provide sufficient space for the industry to stabilise their respective operations and ensure that the transition process can be carried out in an orderly manner so as not to disrupt services to the public," it said in a statement today.
APAD added that the public can still purchase and book express bus tickets using existing platforms or methods during the transition period, subject to further notice.
For ticket purchases made online, users are advised to obtain confirmation and make travel arrangements through licensed bus terminals or the relevant ticket purchase channels, in line with established procedures.
The Transport Ministry and APAD continuously monitor technical developments and the industry’s readiness to ensure the regulations can be implemented in phases, based on operational suitability and needs.
Further determinations regarding the implementation phase and related dates will be communicated from time to time.
