MELAKA, Oct 31 — The 16th Melaka State Election will provide a platform for Pakatan Harapan to respond to allegations and clarify issues raised throughout the campaign, said its election director Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
Voters are entitled to accurate and reliable information to make fact-based choices without being swayed by misleading claims from opposing parties.
“Throughout this campaign, Harapan will respond to all allegations and questions firmly, swiftly, and based on facts.
“Melaka voters deserve accurate information so they can make their choices without being manipulated by misleading claims from the opposing side,” he said in a statement today.
Amirudin also reminded all Harapan candidates to campaign professionally and maintain proper conduct and decorum, in line with the coalition's principles of political maturity.
He confirmed that all 24 Harapan candidates announced earlier have been accepted and were officially cleared to contest following the nomination process, with no candidates rejected by the Election Commission.
Of the total, Parti Keadilan Rakyat is fielding 10 candidates in the Tanjung Bidara, Ayer Limau, Rembia, Machap Jaya, Asahan, Paya Rumput, Kelebang, Ayer Molek, Rim, and Serkam state constituencies.
DAP is fielding seven candidates in Gadek, Pengkalan Batu, Ayer Keroh, Kesidang, Kota Laksamana, Duyong, and Bandar Hilir.
Meanwhile, Parti Amanah Negara is also fielding seven candidates in Kuala Linggi, Durian Tunggal, Bukit Katil, Telok Mas, Merlimau, Taboh Naning, and Sungai Rambai.
Commenting on the start of the campaign, Amirudin said Harapan has adopted the theme ‘Melaka Rumah Kita’ as its main message for the state election.
“Pakatan Harapan has officially begun its campaign with the theme ‘Melaka Rumah Kita’.
“The smooth conduct of today’s nomination process marks a new chapter, allowing candidates to meet the people, listen to residents’ needs, and present their proposals for the state’s future,” he said.
