SHAH ALAM, Oct 31 — Selangor is prepared to offer its state-owned sports facilities, including its hockey stadium, as training venues for teams participating in the 2027 SEA Games, if needed.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government is open to working with the National Sports Council (MSN) to make use of these facilities, while also identifying other suitable locations.
Selangor has experience hosting sporting events such as beach volleyball and bowling, which could also support preparations for the Games.
“We can offer the hockey stadium as a venue. At the same time, we will look at other locations. Selangor has long hosted beach volleyball and bowling events.
“If the MSN wishes to use the state’s facilities, we are ready to make them available. Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak will host the SEA Games this time, so we will see how things develop,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking to the media after attending the 22nd Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and Para SUKMA's appreciation ceremony at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Section 7 last night.
Yesterday, Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) deputy president Datuk Nur Azmi Ahmad announced that 473 events across 43 sports had been finalised for the 2027 SEA Games at a meeting of the Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) Executive Committee.
The 2027 SEA Games are scheduled to take place from September 18 to September 29 next year, across four host clusters: Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak, Johor, and Penang.
