SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — The Selangor Agriculture Development Corporation (PKPS) is working with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam to expand the Ehsan product market and launch opportunities to students interested in entrepreneurship.

UiTM’s Civil Engineering Faculty (FKA) was chosen for the Dapur Ehsan pilot project under the auspices of a Majlis Amanah Keusahawanan Mahasiswa’s (MASMED) entrepreneurship incubator.

PKPS Ehsan Marketing Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Md Fazir Abd Latif said the subsidiary provided Dapur Ehsan facilities to support students’ entrepreneurship training and help target Ehsan products on campus.

“The main objective of this strategic programme is to support UiTM’s entrepreneurship incubator by training entrepreneurs among this university’s students and support the marketing of Ehsan products,” he said when met after the launch of “Pitstop HEP@FKA Ikubator Keusahawanan Sulong UiTM dan PKPS” at UiTM here today.

He added that the project would be expanded to other campuses, including those outside Selangor, and said PKPS expects 2,000 to 3,000 students to benefit from Dapur Ehsan.

“So far, we have several products, including ready-to-eat food, and it is expected that the number of products that will (be marketed at) UiTM won’t be fewer than 20,” he explained.

Meanwhile, FKA deputy dean (student affairs) Prof Norbaya Sidek said the incubator idea came from the faculty dean, who wants to provide such a space in each faculty. She said FKA was chosen to host the pilot project with two components — a We Drink kiosk and PKPS Dapur Ehsan.

She added that the initiative will allow students to develop budding entrepreneurs’ skills and support efforts to strengthen the Bumiputera economy.

“This is a very valuable initiative because I feel we can provide students with a space, because we know it is very important to help the strengthening of the Bumiputera economy together,” she said.

Norbaya expressed hope that the initiative could be expanded to other faculties so more students may make use of the entrepreneurship facilities and space provided.
