SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has improved the drainage system along Jalan Keluli 1C near i-City in Section 7 here, including by building scuppers, to mitigate flash floods.
In a statement, the MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Department said a flap gate has also been installed at the drain inlet there.
“Integrated action between agencies concerned was taken to address this issue. The Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) and Public Works Department (JKR) will conduct follow-up action in the area.
“MBSA will improve the drainage system, including by optimising cleanup and maintenance of the drain.
“MBSA will keep working with technical agencies and i-City management to identify suitable solutions to reduce the risk of recurrent floods in the area,” it said.
A flash flood hit Jalan Keluli 1C near i-City following heavy rain this afternoon, exacerbated by Sungai Rasah’s elevated levels.
