KLANG, Oct 28 — Seventy per cent of the 255 quick-win flood mitigation projects in Selangor have been completed to the tune of almost RM70 million, said state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim.
He added that these projects were undertaken with the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS), local authorities, and Public Works Department (JKR).
“From last year until now, 70 per cent of them have been completed, including in Klang and Ampang Jaya.
“Only 30 per cent of these quick-win projects are underway now and we’re confident they will be done by year end,” he said during a site visit to Taman Sri Kerayong in Kapar here today.
Earlier, he visited flood mitigation projects in Taman Melawis and Taman Mutiara here, which cost RM18 million and RM8 million, respectively. He said that with these two projects, no floods have been reported in the area.

Izham said more quick-win projects will be activated soon to tackle frequent flash floods around i-City in Shah Alam.
“Among them is to build a flap gate and water pump to suction overflow to Sungai Rasah, plus a RM40 million allocation to build a sluice gate there.
“This will be tabled to the State Executive Council on Friday for immediate approval,” he explained.
In April, Izham said RM5.74 billion has been allocated for 134 flood mitigation projects in the state between 2021 to 2030. The federal government gave RM2.11 billion for 108 projects, while the state government bore the remaining RM3.63 billion for 26 projects.
