KLANG, Oct 22 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj welcomed 1,500 orphans and children with spastic disabilities for the Majlis Jamuan Teh Diraja at Istana Alam Shah today.

Meanwhile, SK Saujana Utama pupil Daliya Dafinah Razali, 12, said she was delighted to meet the Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri for the first time.
“I am very happy to meet the Sultan of Selangor and the Tengku Permaisuri with my younger sibling and other friends. I have never met them before.
“When my teacher told me we could attend the reception, I was so happy and got ready for it. It was the most exciting experience. Alhamdulillah (God be praised),” she told Media Selangor.
Meanwhile, Selangor and Federal Territories Spastic Children’s Association ambassador Herley Abdul Hamid said 60 children with spastic disabilities also had the opportunity to attend the event and experience the palace surroundings.
“His Royal Highness is the association’s patron, and when the children were told they could attend the reception, they were all very excited about visiting the palace.
“The Sultan has a close relationship with the association. We are grateful and extend our heartfelt thanks for the invitation to this Royal Tea Reception,” he said.
The Majlis Jamuan Teh Diraja is among the programmes organised in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the Sultan of Selangor’s reign (2001-2026), which run from September to November this year.
