KLANG, Oct 22 — Over 3,000 Selangor residents from diverse backgrounds and ethnic communities attended the second Majlis Jamuan Teh Diraja Bersama Rakyat, held in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking the Sultan of Selangor’s reign at Istana Alam Shah yesterday.
The opportunity to attend the reception was a valuable experience for the selected guests, many of whom regarded their first visit to the palace as a special memory made during the 25th anniversary of the Sultan’s reign.
Yaacob Ismail, 63, from Taman Rakan Cheras, Sungai Long, described the invitation as an unforgettable opportunity, as it was his first time visiting a palace.
“I am delighted because this is the first time I have been invited to the palace. I am extremely happy and proud to have received the invitation two weeks ago.
“Twelve of us came together and travelled by bus at 10.30am. It was exciting to be able to enter the palace, and I really enjoyed it,” he told Media Selangor.

Meanwhile, Raju Toplan, 56, from Kampung Teluk Piai, Kuala Selangor, expressed his gratitude and pride at being selected as a royal guest at the event.
“I am happy because not everyone gets this opportunity. Being given the chance makes me feel proud. I pray that the Sultan of Selangor will enjoy a long life, and I am proud to be a Selangorian,” he said.

For Chan Tain Por, 49, from Taman Desa Bukit Indah, Sungai Buloh, the invitation was particularly meaningful because the Silver Jubilee marked 25 years of the Sultan’s reign.
“The 25th anniversary of the Silver Jubilee comes only once. I am extremely happy and delighted to have been selected to enter the palace and meet the Sultan of Selangor.
“I pray that His Royal Highness will enjoy a long life and continue to govern the state fairly and justly,” he said.

Earlier, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj attended the reception, accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
The second Jamuan Teh Diraja Bersama Rakyat was the third of five events organised in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebrations.
