Rapid KL conducts pilot project for fixed-route feeder vans

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — Rapid KL will launch a three-month pilot project for a shuttle van service operating on fixed routes and schedules starting Saturday (October 24), aimed at strengthening public transport connectivity.

It entails temporarily suspending two 'Rapid KL On Demand' (ROD) service zones: T400B, which connects Bandar Tun Razak to Taman Midah, and T512B, which runs from Precinct 11 to Putrajaya Sentral.

Rapid Bus chief executive officer Syahrul Azmir Ahmad Zaki said the project is part of Rapid KL’s ongoing efforts to increase public transport ridership.

"Through this pilot project, Rapid KL will evaluate an operational model based on fixed routes and schedules to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity, thereby improving community access to nearby rail stations," he said in a statement today.

For the T400B route, users can connect to the Bandar Tun Razak Station (on the Sri Petaling Line) and the Taman Midah Station (on the Kajang Line). The T512B route connects to Putrajaya Sentral Station, which serves the Putrajaya Line and the KLIA Transit (ERL) service.

Under this new operational model, users can board the vans at designated stations and stops without needing to make a booking via the 'Rapid On-Demand' app.

A fare of RM1 per trip will be charged throughout the project. Payments can be made using debit cards, credit cards, or Touch N' Go cards via an open payment system.

Holders of MyRapid Concession Cards are eligible for a 50 per cent fare discount, while 'Rapid Mesra' pass holders may use the service free of charge.

Syahrul added that Rapid KL is also monitoring service usage, operational performance, and user feedback to assess the initiative's reception and effectiveness.

"Findings gathered throughout the implementation period will serve as a reference for considering future service improvements," he said.

The initiative also supports the government's aspiration to increase public transport ridership through a more integrated, accessible, and sustainable mobility system.

Further information on this pilot project is available via Rapid KL’s official social media channels.
