KLANG, Oct 20 — Over 3,000 Selangor residents from as far as Sabak Bernam to Klang took home special memories after having the opportunity to be royal guests at Istana Alam Shah in conjunction with the Sultan of Selangor’s Silver Jubilee.

The Royal Tea Reception with the People, held on Saturday (October 18), also gave first-time visitors to the palace an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the historic celebration.

For Sabak Bernam resident Alice Teoh, 46, the visit was particularly meaningful as she could share the experience with her child despite the haze affecting the state.

Invited through her village head, she described the opportunity as a precious memory for her family.

Fellow Sabak Bernam resident K. Thilaga, 43, shared the same excitement. She attended with a group of residents and expressed her gratitude to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj for giving the people such an opportunity.

“A total of 20 residents from Sabak Bernam came together. We are very happy to have been given this opportunity.

“The haze was no obstacle to us coming here because opportunities like this do not come often. It would have been a shame to let it pass us by,” she said.

Meanwhile, Johan Setia Volunteer Fire Brigade member Mohd Sahnizan Mohd Ayub, 51, was also thrilled to visit Istana Alam Shah for the first time.

However, amid the excitement, he also hoped to secure firefighting equipment for his team, which often faces shortages when assisting with operations.

“We are among the teams that help put out fires, and most of us rely on our own vehicles and equipment,” Sahnizan said.

However, he was unable to convey his request to the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah as he did not have the opportunity during the event.

The first session of the reception, held at Padang Mahkota of Istana Alam Shah, brought together residents from Klang, Petaling, Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee marking 25 years of His Royal Highness's reign.

Also in attendance were the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Tengku Amir, accompanied by his wife Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Dato’ Abdul Aziz.

The celebrations will continue with four more Royal Tea Reception sessions today, tomorrow, Thursday (October 22), and Saturday (October 24) at Istana Alam Shah in Klang.

The upcoming sessions will involve members of the royal family, the public, orphans, people with spastic conditions, retirees, civil servants, and investors.
