KLANG, Oct 19 — The firm and wise leadership of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj throughout his 25-year reign has been instrumental in maintaining the state's stability amid various challenges.
Selangor state secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said the royal institution had served as a pillar of stability as Selangor navigated economic crises, political uncertainty, natural disasters and the global pandemic.
"Under His Royal Highness' wisdom and firm leadership, the royal institution has served as a guiding compass, a source of counsel for the government and a beacon of hope for the people.
"His Royal Highness does not confine his leadership to meeting rooms or the palace throne, but consistently pays close attention to the concerns and struggles of ordinary people at the grassroots level.
"This people-centred approach to leadership continues to inspire all of us," he said.
Ahmad Fadzli said this in his address at the Royal Tea Reception with the People, held in conjunction with the silver jubilee celebration of Sultan Sharafuddin's 25-year reign at Padang Mahkota, Istana Alam Shah, yesterday.

He said Sultan Sharafuddin had consistently emphasised integrity, transparency in financial management and efforts to combat corruption and misconduct in the administration.
The Sultan's guidance on environmental sustainability, including forest conservation and flood mitigation efforts, had also helped shape the state government's policies in these areas, he added.
On unity, Ahmad Fadzli said the Sultan's firm rejection of extremism and narrow racial sentiments served as an important reminder of the need to preserve harmony among Selangor's multiracial and multireligious communities.

In this regard, Ahmad Fadzli stressed that every royal decree and reminder from the Sultan must be translated into transparent and efficient governance that prioritises resolving the people's problems.
He added that the silver jubilee celebration not only marked 25 years since Sultan Sharafuddin ascended the throne in 2001, but also served as a reminder to civil servants to discharge their responsibilities with the utmost dedication.
"The most meaningful way to honour His Royal Highness is through the administration's unwavering commitment to carrying out its responsibilities effectively.
"I also take His Royal Highness' reminders very seriously, particularly his repeated emphasis on the need for civil servants to steer clear of corruption, misconduct and financial leakages," he said.
The first in a series of royal tea receptions brought together more than 3,000 people from four districts — Klang, Petaling, Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor.
Also gracing the event were Sultan Sharafuddin, the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin, and the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, accompanied by his wife, Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Dato' Abdul Aziz.
