2027 Selangor Budget: Izuan hopes for expanded funding for entrepreneurs

SHAH ALAM, Oct 12 — The state government is urged to increase funding for equipment and financial assistance to support entrepreneurship development under the 2027 Selangor Budget, which will be tabled next month.

Kota Damansara state assemblyman Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim said the additional allocation was expected to help more entrepreneurs, particularly those from low-income groups, expand their businesses and escape hardcore poverty.

“With the Selangor Budget set to be tabled this November, we will work to put forward proposals to the state executive, including the Menteri Besar and state executive councillors, to increase the allocation.

“We also hope that the State Economic Planning Unit can ensure the number of assistance recipients exceeds the target set,” he said.

Izuan was speaking to Media Selangor after officiating the handover ceremony for the Poverty Eradication Blueprint Assistance Programme and the Selangor Indian Entrepreneur Equipment Assistance Programme (i-Seed) for Petaling at the Petaling District and Land Office today.

During the event, 43 recipients received assistance, comprising six Blueprint recipients and 37 i-Seed recipients.

“The assistance is intended to ensure that they can live with dignity, run their businesses successfully, and ultimately give back to the community,” he said.

This year, the state government allocated approximately RM3 million to help small entrepreneurs, particularly those from low-income groups, expand their businesses through the Selangor Blueprint and I-Seed programmes.

Meanwhile, Izuan said assistance and guidance for entrepreneurs in the Kota Damansara state constituency also covered financial management, packaging, and marketing.

The Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP) also offered rental discounts of between 30 and 50 per cent for stalls owned by local authorities to ease traders' burden.

“At the local authority level, we, together with the state assemblymen, are also publicising the stalls available for rent to entrepreneurs,” he said.

Izuan hopes that the various forms of support will help entrepreneurs expand their businesses and improve their income-generating capacity.
