SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — A pilot, linked to a company that owns a private jet involved in the attempted smuggling of 521kg of crystal meth from Laos, was among four people detained at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang today, reported the New Straits Times.
The others arrested were the co-pilot and two crew members, who were preparing for a flight to Manila.
Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) Port Klang commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal confirmed enforcers had intercepted the aircraft moments before its departure.
“The four were detained as part of a joint operation involving the MCBA, Petaling Jaya police, Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID), Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel, and Special Branch Travel Control Officers (TCO).
“They will be taken into custody by the NCID for further investigation,” he said, as quoted by the English daily.
Sources claim the pilot owns the company that owns both the intercepted aircraft and the private jet linked to a major drug seizure in Laos, involving 521kg of crystal methamphetamine.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the connection between the aircraft intercepted in Subang and the private jet linked to the drug seizure in Laos.
