SHAH ALAM, April 3 — The success of 55 technicians from the first cohort of the Base Maintenance Malaysia (BMM) Training Programme in completing their training on Tuesday (March 31) demonstrates the capability of local talent, while further reinforcing global investors’ confidence in Selangor’s aerospace industry.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the programme, implemented by a subsidiary of SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC), is in line with the state government’s efforts to strengthen the aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Subang Airport, where he also met the graduates in person.

“Pleased to meet the 55 trainee technicians who successfully completed their training as the first cohort of the BMM training programme. I am excited to see globally recognised aerospace companies investing in local talent through training and workforce development.

“This reflects strong confidence in the ability and potential of Malaysians to compete and excel in high-technology industries such as aerospace,” Ng said in a Facebook post.

He added that Selangor is actively strengthening its aerospace industry through various strategic investments and industry recognitions, particularly by positioning the Subang aviation hub as a regional MRO centre.

These ongoing efforts not only create more high-skilled job opportunities for the people but also strengthen Malaysia’s position as a competitive aerospace hub at the regional level.

“I hope these young technicians will continue to build their careers in the country and become part of the skilled workforce driving the progress of Malaysia’s aerospace industry,” Ng said.
