SHAH ALAM, Oct 5 — The Meru Health Clinic must be upgraded to meet the needs of the growing population, while ensuring residents receive more comfortable and efficient healthcare services.
Meru state assemblyman Mariam Abdul Rashid said the healthcare facility currently receives more than 1,000 patients a day, indicating the need to improve services for the local community.
“The Meru area is developing rapidly, coupled with a growing population. Therefore, the need to upgrade this health clinic is very high,” she said during the 'SKOP' programme produced by Media Selangor recently.
In April, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said they are focusing on upgrading existing healthcare facilities, including hospitals nationwide, to meet the growing demand for such services.
The ministry is taking this approach as most existing public healthcare facilities are operating at almost 100 per cent capacity.
Meanwhile, Mariam proposed that the 2027 Selangor Budget focus on recreational facilities, the digitalisation of public services, and efforts to strengthen community unity.
She also hopes the state government will remain inclusive and benefit all segments of society without leaving any group behind.
“My hope is that this budget will be inclusive, progressive, and centred on the welfare of the people,” Mariam said.
The federal Budget 2027 will be tabled in Parliament on Friday (October 9), with projected expenditure reaching a record RM440.9 billion.
The 2027 Selangor Budget is scheduled to be tabled in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on November 13.
Selangor allocated RM3.23 billion under the 2026 budget, comprising RM1.86 billion, or 57.6 per cent, for operating expenditure, while RM1.37 billion, or 42.4 per cent, was allocated for state development.
