SEPANG, Oct 5 — Sepang is among the key districts in the state government's efforts to achieve its target of nine million tourists this year, given its position as a major gateway into Selangor.

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato' Ng Suee Lim said that, besides Sepang, several other districts were also major attractions because of the diverse tourism products and attractions they offer.

“There are several districts in Selangor that are major focal points. Sepang is one of them because it is a gateway.

“Besides that, Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, and Petaling also have their own attractions that we can combine and promote together,” he said after officiating the Selangor Mega Food Festival 2026 (SMFF26) yesterday.

Ng added that destinations attracting visitors included Sekinchan and Kuala Kubu Baharu, as well as theme parks in Petaling and the Royal Town of Klang.

Efforts to attract more tourists will continue to intensify as Selangor enters the final quarter of the year to achieve the set target.

The state government remains optimistic about reaching the nine-million-tourist target despite the conflict in the Middle East having affected visitor arrivals from the region to some extent.

“Although there is a war crisis in the Middle East that has somewhat disrupted tourist arrivals from the region, we remain confident and committed to the nine-million target.

“Whatever happens, we will go all out,” he said.

Throughout this year, Selangor is expected to organise more than 90 tourism-related events, held almost every week across the state.

The programmes cover various segments, including food, culture, lifestyle, creative industries, agrotourism, and community-based tourism.

Major events include the Selangor Tourism Expo, SMFF, the Selangor Coffee Festival, and the Selangor Paddy Field Festival, alongside other programmes implemented in stages.
