SEPANG, Oct 4 — The Selangor Mega Food Festival 2026 (SMFF26) is targeting more than 10,000 visitors over its three-day run at the car park of Mitsui Outlet Park Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato' Ng Suee Lim said the location was chosen alongside the Formula One race at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), allowing the event to capitalise on the presence of motorsport fans and encourage them to stop by and explore Selangor’s attractions.

“This year is rather special as F1 is returning to SIC after nine years. So, we organised this festival alongside the event and received good cooperation from Mitsui Outlet Park.

“We hope tourists coming to Selangor and Sepang to watch F1 can also take the opportunity to explore Selangor first,” he said after officiating SMFF26 here today.

Ng added that the festival also serves as a platform to showcase the heritage and uniqueness of local food to visitors, including international tourists.

The response during the first two days of the festival has been encouraging, particularly in the evenings, with some visitors stopping to buy food before continuing their journey to SIC.

“We are highlighting the heritage and history of food so that Selangor’s name can continue to gain prominence globally.

“So far, the response on the first and second days, especially in the evenings, has been good. I am confident that this place will be packed tonight,” he said.

The councillor noted that the festival is an annual event held at different locations as part of efforts to promote local food and the state’s tourism attractions.

Regarding next year’s festival, Ng said the location is still under consideration, taking into account visitor response, logistical suitability, and cooperation from various parties.

“If the response is good, the location and logistics are suitable, and cooperation is also good, we may be here again next year. We are still in the planning stage,” he said.

SMFF26, which runs from Friday (October 2) to today, brings together more than 60 food and beverage vendors, showcasing the diversity of Selangor’s flavours through traditional, modern, and contemporary dishes.

The festival is also enlivened by performances from artists including Cepang, Sofaz, VIP Band, Kristal X, and XPDC, who are scheduled to perform tonight.
