KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — The 2027 academic calendar for national and government-aided schools will run from January 4 to December 2 in Group A states, and until December 3 in Group B states, said the Education Ministry (MOE).
Group A comprises schools in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, while Group B covers schools in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya.
The MOE has also coordinated the festive holiday dates for the 2027 school session, covering Hari Raya Puasa, the Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Hari Raya Korban, the Kaamatan Festival, Gawai Dayak, Wesak Day, and Christmas.
“All schools must comply with the additional holiday provisions set by MOE in conjunction with Hari Raya Puasa, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Korban, Wesak Day, and Deepavali, with the additional holidays not required to be replaced.
“The ministry has also set January 3, 2028 as the start of the 2028 school session for both Group A and Group B states,” it said in a statement today.
The MOE added that the standardisation aims to ensure a coordinated opening of the 2028 school session nationwide, while facilitating school administration planning and the more orderly and effective implementation of teaching and learning activities.
