SHAH ALAM, Sept 28 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin has extended his condolences to the family of former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the passing of his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, who passed away earlier today.
"Inalillahwainailaihirajiun (Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return). Our deepest condolences to Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the entire family on the passing of Tun Dr Hasmah Mohamad Ali this morning.
"The late Tun Dr Hasmah was a native of Selangor, having been born in Kampung Jawa, Klang, in 1926. She was among Malaysia’s first female medical doctors and devoted much of her life to serving the people," he said in a Facebook post.
Amirudin prayed that Allah SWT shower His mercy upon her soul and place the deceased among the righteous and faithful.

The Prime Minister’s Department confirmed that her remains had been taken to Masjid As-Syarif in Seri Kembangan for funeral preparations and for the public to pay their last respects.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that Dr Siti will be accorded a state funeral before being laid to rest at Pusara Negara (National Cemetery) in Precinct 20, Putrajaya.
Cabinet members and the leaders of other state governments have also come forth to pay tribute to the deceased for her decades-long service and contributions to the nation.
