KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia today expressed their condolences on the passing of the late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.
In a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page, Their Majesties prayed that the deceased be blessed by Allah and placed among the righteous and the faithful.
Their Majesties also prayed that the family of the deceased be granted strength, fortitude and patience in facing the loss of their loved one.
Dr Siti Hasmah, the wife of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) this morning.
News of her passing was confirmed by her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, when contacted by Bernama today.
She breathed her last at the age of 100 and is survived by seven children.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his condolences on Dr Siti Hasmah’s passing, describing it as a great loss to society and the nation.
He said this before delivering the opening address at the International Future Conference 2026 (IFC 2026) at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC) of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Kuala Lumpur campus here today.
Anwar also invited conference participants to join in reciting Surah Al-Fatihah for the deceased.
