KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — Selangor’s six air quality monitoring stations are still showing moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 7pm today, although readings in Sarawak are worsening.
The highest API reading in Selangor was recorded in Johan Setia at 79, followed by Petaling Jaya (69), Shah Alam (69), Kuala Selangor (68), Klang (59), and Banting (59). They joined 38 other areas in Malaysia with moderate readings, according to the API Management System (APIMS) portal.
Meanwhile, the reading in Serian IPD in Sarawak edged back into the very unhealthy range at 206, the highest in the country. The other 12 areas in the state logged unhealthy readings, including Kuching (187), Samarahan (183), and Sri Aman (175).
Ten areas had good API readings, mostly scattered in the northern peninsula in Pahang, Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan.
An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 301 is hazardous.
