KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — Fifteen areas had unhealthy level Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 10pm today.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, Johor’s Batu Pahat and Larkin had the highest readings in Malaysia at 165, followed by Pasir Gudang (163) and Kluang (162).
In Selangor, whose six air quality monitoring stations all showed moderate levels, Johan Setia had the highest API score of 95, followed by Shah Alam (87), Banting (85), Petaling Jaya (80), Klang (75), and Kuala Selangor (65).
Nearby, Kuala Lumpur’s Cheras and Batu Muda had API readings of 153 and 90, while Putrajaya logged 152.
Meanwhile, 55 areas recorded moderate level API readings, with only two areas with good scores — Penang’s Balik Pulau (34) and Kedah’s Langkawi (32).
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is as good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and 301 and above is hazardous.
