SHAH ALAM, Sept 14 — A factory fire opposite the Pangsapuri TNB Kapar quarters in Klang was brought under control by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) at 8.04pm yesterday.
The Selangor JBPM Operations Centre said the fire involved piles of discarded items and recyclable materials covering an area of about 40 by 60 square feet.
“The fire was estimated to have affected 55 per cent of the area. The operation commander reported that the fire was brought under control at 8.04pm,” it said in a statement.
No casualties were reported.
Five fire engines were deployed in the operation, comprising two Fire Rescue Tenders (FRTs), two water tankers and one Compact Fire Rescue Tender (CFRT).
The first fire engine arrived at the scene at 7.22pm, about seven kilometres from the Kapar Fire and Rescue Station.
The operation involved 19 personnel from the Kapar, Klang Utara, Klang Selatan and Port Klang Fire and Rescue Stations.
