ALOR SETAR, Sept 13 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kedah has remanded the managing director of a fertiliser supplier company in connection with the delay in the distribution of Supplementary Compound Fertiliser supplies to paddy farmers in the state.
According to MACC sources, a four-day remand until September 16 against the male suspect in his 30s was granted after an application was made by the MACC at the Magistrate's Court here, earlier this morning.
The suspect was detained at about 2:30 pm yesterday while present to give a statement at the Kedah MACC office, and the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
Previously, the MACC opened an investigation paper regarding the issue of delayed distribution of Paddy Fertiliser 3 to paddy farmers in Kedah.
The investigation paper was opened following a complaint received from the Malaysian Paddy Farmers Brotherhood Organisation (PeSAWAH) on August 26 regarding the delay in fertiliser supply which has affected the needs of paddy farmers in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) area spanning 100,000 hectares.
