PUTRAJAYA, Oct 14 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) summoned Datuk Seri Nazir Hussin Akhtar Husin, his wife, and an aide to its headquarters today to assist in an investigation into alleged misappropriation and abuse of position involving an investment deal worth about RM10 million.
It said the former Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) chairman was summoned to receive a notice requiring him to declare his assets under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009, while his wife and the aide were summoned to record their statements.
Meanwhile, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said Nazir refused to accept the notice, citing an injunction application he had filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court yesterday to stop enforcement of the directive issued under Section 36 of the Act.
The recording of statements from his wife and aide lasted one hour and 30 minutes.
“He (Nazir), his wife and his aide arrived at the MACC at about 11am, while his wife and aide were released at 1.15pm,” he said.
