PUTRAJAYA, Oct 1 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded a company manager from an agency offering financial and corporate services on suspicion of submitting documents containing false material particulars to obtain a tax reduction worth around RM200 million.
The three-day remand order, effective until Saturday (October 3), against the man in his 40s was issued by Magistrate Illya Syaheedah Mohd Razif after the MACC applied at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court this morning.
“The suspect was arrested at about 7pm yesterday when he appeared to provide his statement at the MACC headquarters here,” the MACC said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have committed the offence between 2018 and 2026.
The suspect is also believed to have bribed an officer of an enforcement agency and manipulated about 480 company accounts using false documents to secure the tax reduction, as well as amassed wealth through these activities.
When contacted, Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
