SUBANG JAYA, Sept 9 — The Selangor contingent added two more gold medals to its Para SUKMA haul from the tenpin bowling event today, for a total contribution of six gold from the squad on the third day of the competition.
Today’s first gold came from TPB4+TPB4 pair Muhammad Hazmi Khairil Azri and Muhammad Razif Iskandar Abd Muiz with a total of 2,405 pinfalls after they dropped 431, 392, 376, 388, 403 and 415 pins in six games.
This took them past Sarawak, whose duo took second place with 2,329 pinfalls, while the Terengganu pair took home bronze with 2,207 pinfalls.
Another gold went to TPB8+TPB8 pair Ahmad Nazri Hamzah and Rosheedey Faizal, with a total of 1,984 pinfalls total after dropping 262, 314, 344, 375, 322 and 367 pins in six games.
They beat Melaka, which took silver with 1,629 pinfalls, and Pahang, which took bronze with 1,063 pinfalls.
In the TPB9+TPB9 category, Nadia Syafika Abdul Rahman and Muhammad Yunus Mohammad Muhayadin Abdullah clinched silver after dropping 2,268 pins.
They logged 396, 370, 393, 358, 380 and 311 pinfalls in six games behind Sarawak, which emerged champions with 2,285 pinfalls, while Perak took bronze with 2,015 pinfalls.
Para SUKMA ends tomorrow after 369 events in 10 sports — swimming, athletics, badminton, table tennis, tenpin bowling, lawn bowls, archery, chess, boccia, and powerlifting.
The Selangor contingent’s target for this edition of Para SUKMA is 60 gold — a mark they met today.
