Don’t erase Selangor’s track record for political narrative, PAS told

SHAH ALAM, Sept 9 — Selangor PAS has been urged not to overlook the state government’s track record and the various benefits enjoyed by the people simply to push a political narrative and promote its Ehsan 2030 agenda.

Selangor Menteri Besar’s political secretary Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad said Selangor PAS delegate Mohamed Sukri Omar’s claim that the people have yet to benefit from the state’s wealth is shallow and contradicts the various assistance programmes already rolled out.

He pointed out that the state government has provided assistance through various welfare, health, education, housing, entrepreneurship and family support initiatives.

“PAS can say that the existing assistance is not enough. PAS can also offer policies that they consider better.

“But saying that the people have yet to feel the benefits of the state’s wealth is a political narrative that deliberately sets aside facts that can be assessed by the people of Selangor themselves,” he said in a statement last night.

Among others, Saifuddin noted that the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang initiative currently comprises 46 programmes, including the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (BINGKAS) assistance, which provides RM300 monthly to around 30,000 recipients with an allocation of about RM103 million annually.

“As of April 7, 2026, a total of 27,619 recipients were recorded as benefiting from the programme.”

He added that other assistance included the Skim Air Darul Ehsan (SADE), Jelajah Ehsan Rahmah (JER), healthcare assistance, home repair aid, assistance for senior citizens and various other welfare programmes.

Saifuddin said the state government has also introduced the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package worth more than RM130 million, covering basic necessities assistance, vouchers for the people, public transport subsidies, free school breakfast and assistance for related sectors.

“So, when PAS says that the people have yet to feel the benefits of Selangor’s wealth, the question is simple: Who are those receiving BINGKAS every month? Who are those benefiting from affordable sales, subsidies, healthcare assistance, education assistance and various state programmes?

“Ehsan 2030 can simply be sold as PAS’ political offer, but do not sell future dreams by erasing Selangor’s record today,” he said.

Ehsan 2030 is a strategic plan launched by Selangor PAS last month as a policy framework in facing the 16th General Election.

Saifuddin said PAS’ target of winning at least 36 state seats and 12 parliamentary seats in Selangor was a political aspiration, but stressed that those seeking to govern the country’s most developed state must demonstrate their policies, capabilities and track record.

He acknowledged that Selangor still has room for improvement, adding that the state government would continue enhancing its initiatives to meet the people’s current needs.

“However, the difference between responsible criticism and political propaganda is quite clear. Criticism offers improvements. Propaganda, on the other hand, erases facts to build its own story," he said.
