SHAH ALAM, Sept 9 — Selangor athlete Nurul Ainin Sofea Mohammad Faudziman emerged victorious after winning the women’s T20 800-metre gold medal at the Para Malaysia Games (Para SUKMA) 2026.
The achievement was made even more meaningful as she overcame learning difficulties and speech delay that she had faced since childhood.
Ainin said difficulties adapting to learning had prompted her to focus fully on training to build her confidence and improve her performance.
“I found it difficult to adapt to learning, so I trained hard,” she said.
According to her, mental strength was among the key factors when facing competition from athletes from other states.
“For me, we are not competing against others but against ourselves. You have to be mentally strong.”
She expressed pride that all her efforts and training had finally paid off with the gold medal.
Ainin also expressed appreciation for her parents’ support, saying they had constantly guided and encouraged her throughout her sporting journey.
She said the achievement would motivate her to continue training and improve her performance ahead of the Para SUKMA 2028.
