KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred in the Flores region of Indonesia at 12.40pm today.
The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said in a statement that the earthquake was detected at coordinates 8.1 degrees South and 120.8 degrees East, about 240km east of Bima, Indonesia.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 34km.
“It posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia,” added MetMalaysia.
