KOTA KINABALU, Oct 3 — A weak earthquake of magnitude 3.5 hit in the Panginatan area of Ranau at 10.57am today, said the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
It said the epicentre was detected at 5.9°N, 116.7°E, at a depth of 13km, about 14km south of Ranau.
“Tremors from the (quake) were reportedly felt by residents in the Ranau district and surrounding areas,” the department said.
MetMalaysia requested those who felt the tremors to fill up a questionnaire to help the agency collect field data.
Ranau is located in the interior of Sabah, about 106km east of here, and is home to Mount Kinabalu.
