SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — In a daring act of bravery, a firefighter plunged into Sungai Selangor and swam 50 metres to rescue a 44-year-old man who jumped from the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah 5 Bridge in Kuala Selangor last night.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 8.05pm, following which five personnel from the Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Station were mobilised to the scene.
He said the team arrived five minutes later and immediately began efforts to rescue the victim, Kosmo reported.
"The victim was rescued by a firefighter who swam 50 metres towards the victim's location,” he was quoted as saying.
"The man did not sustain any injury and was handed over to the Health Ministry (MOH) and police for further action.”
The victim was rescued at about 9.15pm.
