Johan Setia records highest API reading in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Sept 7 — Johan Setia records the highest unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in Selangor at 186, according to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), as of 5pm today.

The portal reported that six areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy air quality levels with Shah Alam reporting the second highest reading at 167.

Klang recorded readings at 160, while Kuala Selangor and Banting both recorded the same levels at 158 respectively and Petaling Jaya at 157.

At the national level, two areas from Sarawak recorded very unhealthy air quality levels with IPD Serian recorded 261 and Samarahan at 237.

The portal also reported ten other areas in Sarawak with unhealthy air quality levels namely; Kuching (200), Sarikei (196), Sri Aman (191), Sibu (184), Mukah (179), Samalaju (175), ILP Miri, Miri and Bintulu (167), and Limbang (149). 

As of 5pm, the portal said only Kangar, Perlis recorded good API reading at 45. 

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are classified as hazardous.
