KUALA LANGAT, Sept 5 — The state government, through Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB) has launched the Morib rejuvenation and redevelopment project with an initial gross development value (GDV) of RM850 million.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the project, done under a strategic cooperation with Lim Seong Hai Capital Berhad (LSH Capital) and Seriemas Development Sdn Bhd, kicks off this year with the first phase being the Sri Morib Golf and Country Club.
He added that the club will sit on a 57.4ha site that will be upgraded to an 18-hole, 72-par course, with restoration works to take two years.
“God willing, with our partners, it’s not just a matter of adding value to PNSB’s cash flow, but to breathe new life into Morib.
“Coincidentally, the breakwater strengthening project under PETRA (Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry) is done and we are waiting to launch it and open (the area) to the public,” Amirudin told reporters.
Earlier, he launched the Sri Morib Golf Club rejuvenation and redevelopment project here today.
Also present were PNSB chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim and Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) president Amri Ismail.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Amirudin said the rejuvenation project is part of the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS), which encompasses developments in Kuala Langat and Sepang.
“Morib beach isn’t just a normal seaside. It is a strategic asset that has long developed and is rich in historic value, sports and recreation traditions, and has significant socio-economic (value),” he added.
Other than the Sri Morib Golf and Country Club, the rejuvenation project includes a mixed-use development for residential and commercial purposes on a 60.7ha site.
Projects under the 10-year masterplan are set to transform Morib’s image from just a weekend travel destination to a more integrated beach and recreational tourism destination.
