SHAH ALAM, March 9 — The Selangor government is implementing coastal conservation and erosion control projects worth more than RM55 million to strengthen protection for coastal areas in Kuala Langat district.
The projects, carried out by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), involve coastal rehabilitation works as well as the construction of sea walls to address erosion at several key locations including Pantai Morib, Pantai Cunang and Pantai Tanjung Sepat.
Kuala Langat District Officer Tengku Rohana Tengku Nawawi said two projects related to coastal protection and drainage systems are currently being implemented and are expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
“The Pantai Morib Conservation Project, worth RM47.3 million, is expected to be fully completed on July 1, 2026.
“In addition, the Sungai Banting Flood Mitigation Plan project costing RM2.45 million was completed on October 14, 2025 to improve the river’s drainage system so that water flow can be better controlled during heavy rain and high tide phenomena,” she said.
She said this while speaking at the Ihya’ Ramadan programme with the Sultan of Selangor and the people, as well as the opening of the Masjid An-Nur in Kampung Kanchong Tengah yesterday.
She added that the construction and upgrading of coastal embankments and erosion control works at Pantai Cunang and Pantai Tanjung Sepat involve a cost of RM7.9 million and are expected to be completed on July 21, 2026.
She said the projects are part of the state government’s efforts to address coastal erosion and strengthen protection for coastal areas in Kuala Langat.
