KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 – A three-year strategic partnership between AFFIN Group and Selangor FC is expected to attract more corporate companies to invest in football development and the local sports industry.
Selangor FC chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said the partnership reflects the private sector's confidence in the potential of the sports industry, particularly when a club is managed professionally and transparently with a clear direction.
"The agreement with AFFIN represents the largest private sponsorship ever received by the 'Red Giants' squad.
"AFFIN's involvement demonstrates the private sector's confidence in investing in football when a club is professionally managed and possesses a long-term vision.
"This is not merely a financial injection; it opens up further opportunities to achieve the long-term vision and projects planned to elevate Selangor FC to greater heights," he said.
Earlier, Selangor FC and AFFIN Group signed a strategic partnership agreement, appointing the banking institution as the club's official banking partner.
Johan signed the agreement on behalf of Selangor FC alongside AFFIN Group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah.
The signing was witnessed by His Royal Highness the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, who is also the Chairman of Selangor FC.
The official partnership, Johan said, does not only provide financial benefits to the club but also highlights the importance of multi-party involvement in strengthening local football development.
"Local talent has the potential to go far if given the opportunity, support, and the right financial backing.
"We hope partnerships like this will open the eyes of more corporate entities to play a role in developing the nation's football and sports sectors," he said.
