SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim will miss Harimau Malaya’s friendly against China, as he is expected to return to competitive action no earlier than January next year.

KOSMO! Online reported that Selangor FC chief executive officer Johan Kamal Hamidon said the player, popularly known as Mickey, will need another two to three months to fully recover.

“His recovery appears to be progressing well, but he has suffered a fairly severe muscle tear. I think he could rejoin the team for training and matches within the next two to three months.

“January is probably the safest timeframe for him to return to competitive action,” he said.

Faisal's absence has affected Harimau Malaya’s plans and also impacted Selangor FC's preparations for the remainder of the season.

Johan added that the player, who is also Selangor FC’s captain, continues to have a significant impact on the team through his presence at the stadium and in the dressing room, despite being unable to play.

Faisal's involvement helped boost his teammates’ motivation and morale.

“On the pitch, we are missing Faisal, but off the pitch, his presence and involvement mean a great deal.

“He consistently offers support, encouragement and words of motivation to his teammates,” he said.

Faisal sustained the injury while representing the national team against Indonesia in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 last month.
