SHAH ALAM, Sept 4 — Air quality across Selangor remained in the moderate category, with Johan Setia recording the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 77 as of 4pm today,
According to data from the Environmental Quality Management System (EQMS) portal, Shah Alam recorded the second-highest reading in the state at 75, followed by Banting at 72.
The portal also showed that Klang recorded an API reading of 68, while Petaling Jaya and Kuala Selangor recorded readings of 62 and 61 respectively.
All six monitoring stations in Selangor recorded API readings below 101, which is the threshold for the unhealthy category.
At the national level, Sarawak tops the list in API readings with two areas within the hazardous category: IPD Serian recording 514, the highest reading in Malaysia, followed by Kuching at 313.
Two other areas in Sarawak recorded very unhealthy API readings between 201 and 300, which were Samarahan at 288 and Sri Aman at 239.
Several areas in Sarawak continued to record significantly higher API readings, with six areas recording unhealthy readings between 101 and 200.
Sarikei recorded the highest reading in this category at 183, followed by Sibu at 181, Mukah at 178, Bintulu at 159, Samalaju at 153, and ILP Miri at 152.
Those in areas recording high API readings are encouraged to take the necessary precautionary measures and reduce outdoor activities where appropriate.
