SEPANG, Sept 2 — The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has confirmed that no more Madani tickets will be issued now for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, with all 10,000 tickets sold out.
Youth and Sports Minister Mohammed Taufiq Johari however said additional viewing areas may be considered.
“If there are any additions, we will announce them, but as of today, there is no increase.
“We estimate more than 110,000 spectators based on existing capacity. Regarding the Madani tickets, we are trying to make additions and may open potential areas for consideration before the event starts,” he told reporters today after launching the volunteer initiative for the F1 Bahrain GP in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) here.
It was previously reported that Malaysians could watch Formula 1 live at SIC with Madani tickets as low as RM200 for MyKad holders.
Taufiq said 500 volunteers would be deployed for the event, scheduled for October 2 to 4.
He said that apart from Formula 1, another 500 volunteers would be assigned to the MotoGP race, bringing the total number of volunteers for both major events to 1,000 so far.
“KBS’ approach this time focuses on youth development. We need more volunteers who can build their personal character and identity, allowing us to discover new talents,” he said.
Online applications for volunteers opened today via the MyProfil platform under the Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES).
Eligibility criteria include being a Malaysian citizen aged 18 and above, physically fit, disciplined, and possessing good communication skills, with foreign language proficiency considered an added advantage.
Selected volunteers will be placed under the supervision of the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN) through the Rakan Muda initiative for duties in customer service, ticketing and entry, guest relations, and Madani zone management.
