KUALA SELANGOR, Sept 2 — Nearly all SUKMA venues have been cleaned up, said KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) managing director Dato’ Ramli Mohd Tahir.

He said this is thanks to the firm’s early preparations by adding cleanup crews, waste bins, and trash truck trips to ensure efficient waste management throughout the prestigious sporting event.

He added that KDEBWM coordinated efforts with local authorities for cleanups in their municipalities, while waste management in private areas was handled by the concessionaire itself.

“We added workers, crews and lorries, we added waste bins, added more trips. Thank God, all SUKMA locations have been cleaned up well,” he said when met after signing a deal with the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) here today.

Previously, KDEBWM allocated RM240,000 more to improve waste management at SUKMA values, in line with its role as official sponsor for the event.

Ramli congratulated the Selangor government for successfully organising SUKMA and the state contingent for emerging overall champions, with 101 gold, 73 silver and 71 bronze medals.

The victory marked Selangor’s best SUKMA showing, soaring past its initial 80-gold target, with the swimming camp emerging the biggest gold medal contributor by taking first place in 20 of the 41 swimming golds.
