SUBANG JAYA, Aug 31 — The state government is encouraging schoolchildren to join esports as the field has significant economic potential, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He added that this aligns with the current youth lifestyle and how esports is a major part of the younger generation’s daily lives.
“It’s better for us to arrange for a development programme that gives them the opportunity to be more seriously involved. Among the initial steps is to introduce schools to (esports) networks and alignments in business ecosystems.
“Like it or not, esports will keep growing,” he said when met after the SRG eSports School Championship closing ceremony at Spacecubix here yesterday.
At the final, SMK Saujana Utama emerged champions after defeating SMK Hillcrest 3-1.
SMK Hillcrest player Muhammad Zulhadi Ediyadi was named best jungler and offered an apprenticeship at SRG Academy.
