SHAH ALAM, July 16 — The Selangor Red Giants esports squad has received RM100,000 from Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, ahead of the Esports World Cup in Paris, France.
Yayasan MBI chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the contribution is part of a RM348,500 fund channelled to 16 recipients including athletes, sports associations, and state sports squads.
He added that Yayasan MBI is committed to supporting sports development in Selangor by helping athletes and teams that don’t receive much focus from other parties.
“We want them to keep being active in sports and make Selangor and the country proud,” he told Media Selangor when met at the contribution presentation ceremony at Bangunan Darul Ehsan here today.
Besides SRG, Yayasan MBI has channelled RM100,000 each to Selangor Archery and Selangor Rugby Union.
Azri said the aid is hoped to ease recipients’ financial burdens and support their preparations ahead of domestic and international championships.
He added that Yayasan MBI will continue backing sports development in Selangor with support for athletes and sports associations to produce more top performers who can make the state and country proud.
