SHAH ALAM, Aug 30 — A lack of knowledge in digital marketing remains one of the challenges faced by local entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses and reaching wider markets.
To address this, the state government’s Selangor Platform (PLATS) initiative serves as a platform to help entrepreneurs develop their knowledge and practical skills in modern marketing.
Bakeri Kak Ain owner Nur'Ain Chow Sook Mung Abdullah is among those who have benefited from the initiative to strengthen her business marketing strategies.
“PLATS has helped me a lot in terms of providing knowledge about digital marketing and how to practise it in my business.
“This initiative has effectively helped to further increase sales in my business,” she told Media Selangor during the Platform Selangor Awards Night (MAPS) recently.
Nur'Ain’s efforts were also recognised when she received the U-PLATS Digital Outstanding Entrepreneur Award, taking home a trophy and a RM1,000 cash prize.
Meanwhile, Minah Satay founder Norminah Syafrial said establishing a brand and introducing its products to the public were among the biggest challenges faced in running a business.
“For me, the main challenge is in terms of branding and marketing, where introducing our brand to the public is the most difficult thing,” she said.
The guidance and exposure gained through PLATS helped strengthen her business while motivating her to set bigger goals following the recognition.
“Through this entrepreneurship initiative, I hope to be able to go further and set new targets after receiving this award.
“My hope is to help more agents under Minah Satay, and to be able to further increase my sales as well as the sales of other agents,” Norminah said.
She received the MAPS Special Award, taking home a trophy and RM18,000 in cash.
