SHAH ALAM, Oct 18 — To date, 1,313 participants have taken part in 61 free training and guidance sessions through the Platform Selangor (PLATS) Career Transition programme, which falls under the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP).

Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the programme introduces participants to digital entrepreneurship, covering areas such as affiliate marketing on TikTok, franchise businesses, and stockist operations.

“We opened registration three to four months ago, and so far, nearly 10,000 people have signed up. Our target quota is 5,000 participants, supported by a RM4 million allocation under the SREP.

“This programme is not limited to those who have lost their jobs, it is open to anyone looking to increase their income, especially those interested in learning about affiliate marketing,” he told Media Selangor.

Azri added that registration remains open, with a target of 5,000 eligible participants to undergo the training.

Those interested can register through the PLATS website, and collaborations have also been established with elected representatives and higher education institutions, including Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Selangor (UNISEL), to widen participation.

“The programme is entirely free, and participants receive an attendance allowance of approximately RM50, distributed via the NINE app.

“The training is structured in several stages, following the initial session, there are ‘upgrade’ sessions. Participants also receive free Internet data approximately 20GB per month along with a dongle, provided for a duration of one year,” he said.

The PLATS Career Transition (PLATS Transisi Kerjaya) initiative was introduced under Phase Two of the SREP, aimed at providing individuals who have lost their jobs with the opportunity to venture into entrepreneurship.

While presenting the package in June, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that RM4 million had been allocated for the programme, enabling participants to undergo training and gain exposure to fundamental business strategies before launching their own enterprises.
