SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 — Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin participated in the 10,000 Selangor Women in Prayer event for Maulidur Rasul here last night.
Her Royal Highness was welcomed upon arrival at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque at 9.15pm by Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (PEKAWANIS) president Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad, state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari, and Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) chief executive officer Siti Faridah Abdul Samad.
The WBS programme featured a selawat recital led by international Qariah Tilawah Al-Quran champion Nor Farhatul Fairuzah Panut and a sermon by Nazirah Abu Bakar.
The event was also a platform to bring the 10,000 women closer through spiritual sisterhood and prayer for the Prophet Muhammad, and gave Selangor women the opportunity to appreciate the values of love, unity and morality he practised.
This year’s Maulidur Rasul will be celebrated on Tuesday to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad and emulate his morals and teachings.
