GOMBAK, Aug 22 — Upgrading computer laboratories and resource centres in schools can strengthen students’ technology skills, while also preparing them for further studies at higher education institutions.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said efforts to upgrade both facilities would also help boost students’ enthusiasm for learning fields that would be in demand in the future.
“Upgrading these two facilities, namely the computer laboratory and resource centre, will help to raise enthusiasm and improve the facilities and conditions in this area.
“Some of the items provided are smaller pieces of equipment…there is a 3D printer, we have a laser printer, and we are also providing new computers. The resource centre has a larger area as well as certain other facilities,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking after officiating the new computer laboratory and renovated resource centre at SMK Sungai Kertas today.
He added that the provided facilities align with the requirements of various fields of study at higher education institutions, including fine arts, engineering, architecture, and design.
“As it happens, our universities offer various specialised skills. For example, in fine arts or painting at Universiti Teknologi MARA, which is known for its wall displays and completed murals.
“We also have other skills in engineering, architecture, design, and so on, which are being translated here in an integrated manner.
“What is important is the spirit inspired by the Prime Minister, so that we are truly present on the ground. He does not want us to keep building more skyscrapers or large monuments, but rather to ensure that schools, stalls, and people’s homes are properly cared for and maintained,” Amirudin said.
